See Saugatuck in a New Light
Starting October 18th and running until December 20th, the Saugatuck Center for the Arts (SCA) will be displaying interactive works from artists Simon Alexander-Adams, Patrick Ethe, and Cuppeteli & Mendoza daily in tandem with an outdoor, building-spanning installation, Playful Spaces, by Jeremy Barnett and Jason Maracani. The displays, called Luminescence, all use light as their main component with the help of some ingenious electrical engineering, creative design, and expert application of physics. Luminescence offers its viewers with a unique opportunity to encounter something that expands our view of how art is defined, displayed, and experienced. The one-of-a-kind, hands-on exhibit is one of Saugatuck’s can’t-miss events of the fall season.
Playful Spaces encompasses the entire building of the SCA and is a visible line of color and light made from wood and sticks to form the illusion of linear energy, dynamically moving throughout the area The installation will wrap in and around the building’s architecture and sculptures and interrupt the gallery spaces as it interacts with other works in the exhibition. Ultimately, the installation is more of an invitation to come inside, see the gallery spaces, and interact with the works,
