A Week of Pride-Filled Events
Tea Dance at The Dunes Resort – June 1
The week kicks off with a cherished tradition at the iconic Dunes Resort. The Tea Dance is a lively celebration of love and freedom, with music, dancing, and a fun, welcoming crowd. This event sets the tone for the week with high energy, great vibes, and even better dance moves.
Rainbow Putt-Putt Tournament – June 2
Get your game face on (and maybe some glitter, too). Hosted by Community Pride, the Rainbow Putt-Putt Tournament at Saugatuck Mini Golf is equal parts playful and competitive. It’s a great way to connect, unwind, and kick off the week with friends new and old.
Pride Bowling Party – June 3
Lace up your bowling shoes for the Pride Bowling Party, hosted by West Shore Aware at Alley’s Pizza at Lakeview Lanes. This local favorite blends good food, friendly competition, and plenty of laughs.
Bonnie Morris Lecture – June 3
For something a bit more reflective, head to the Saugatuck-Douglas District Library to hear Bonnie Morris speak about her book, What’s the Score: 25 Years of Teaching Women’s Sports History. Arrive early for the pre-lecture social at 4 p.m., hosted by the History Center, and stay for what promises to be an insightful evening.
Jazz for Justice Concert – June 6
On Thursday, enjoy an evening of soulful music at the Pride Jazz for Justice concert at All Saints' Episcopal Church. This event supports advocacy efforts and celebrates the power of art to bring people together.
Dinner & Talk with Jay Kaplan – June 6
On the same evening, The Kirby Hotel will host Jay Kaplan, LGBT Staff Attorney with the ACLU of Michigan. Enjoy hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, and a powerful conversation on LGBTQ+ rights and advocacy starting at 5:30 p.m.
Pride Care-A-Van Parade – June 7
Decorate your car, wave your flags, and line up at Saugatuck High School for the annual Care-A-Van Parade, departing at 10:30 a.m. This moving celebration winds through town and sets the tone for the day ahead.
PRIDE in the Park Festival – June 7
The main event happens at Beery Field in downtown Douglas, where PRIDE in the Park begins at noon. Expect high-energy live music, including Random Play and Chicago’s Sixteen Candles, alongside local food, drinks, and vendors. It’s a day of joy, visibility, and pure celebration, open to all.
