Come along on a Southwest Michigan Brewery Tour
Saugatuck may be most famous for its beaches but it’s Saugatuck’s spirits and craft breweries that have also made our town a beloved vacation destination. Beer lovers and IPA-enthusiasts will feel right at home in Saugatuck and with so many craft breweries to pick from, there’s always something new to see—and taste. Follow our insider’s guide below for a Southwest Michigan craft brewery tour that will be unforgettable.
Saugatuck Brewing
Start your Southwest Michigan Brewery Tour right here in Saugatuck at Saugatuck Brewing. Tours are held every Saturday at 11:30 AM and are free of charge; the tour includes a complimentary sampling and a full tour of the brewing facility. Ready for some lunch? Sit down for made-from-scratch pub grub including salads, seafood, and wraps. If you get stuck waiting in line to be seated (which can sometimes happen) visit the Barrel Room for snacks. Saugatuck Brewing Company is also the only brewery in Michigan that offers a Brew on Premise program. The four-hour process involves natural, local ingredients and professional experiments provided by your experienced instructor. Return two or three weeks later to pick up your own unique brew.
Guardian Brewing Company
Continue your Southwest Michigan Craft Brewery Tour at Guardian Brewery. If you’re visiting early in the month, enjoy the pop-up market of West Michigan artists and makers. The Frist Saturday Market Series dates are September 7th and October 5th from 3-9 PM at Guardian Brewing.
Virtue Cider
Visit Virtue Cider’s idyllic farm a few miles south in Fennville to tour acres of vibrant farmland and orchards as well as the cider-making facilities. Try a taste in the Tap Room or browse the aisles of the Bottle Shop for some to take home. Book a unique tour like the cider and perennial chocolate pairing, attend an informative workshop or take your practice outside with a session of farm yoga.
Crane’s Cider
Head back into Saugatuck to visit world-champion Crane’s Winery and try the best-flavored cider on the planet: Crane’s Apple Cherry Hard Cider. Grab a chair at the Tasting Bar downtown to try the latest release and purchase a variety of goodies made right from the Crane farm in nearby Fennville.
New Holland Brewing Tasting Room
New Holland Brewing just opened a downtown Saugatuck tasting room and it’s only a short walk up Water Street from Crane’s Wine and Cider. Try the fan-favorite Dragon’s Milk and purchase some to take home and share with friends and family. If you’ve discovered a new favorite, head to Holland to the northeast and dine in at New Holland’s Pub on the 8th to complete your Southwest Michigan Craft Brewery Tour with a mouthwatering meal.
