Be Inspired at the Saugatuck Center for the Arts
On display at the Saugatuck Center for the Arts until January 14th is Donna F. St. John’s internationally-recognized exhibit, Tributes of Authentic Heroism. This one will make you think. It evaluates and compares different types of heroes, from the famous to the obscure, from the epic, to the ordinary. Who, or what, is a hero?
Our personal heroes are certainly important to us, and this exhibit puts many faces to the word. It encourages reflection, personally and socially, and raises questions about social justice issues and the interconnectivity of human beings as a whole. This fits with the Saugatuck Center for the Arts’s mission: to produce a more vibrant community with education on art and encouraging the questions that art raises. By giving the community a headquarters for artistic expression, and placing value in art, the Center hopes to give life to an artistic locale that truly cares about art in its many forms. The Center also holds many classes for young people in the area to gain these artistic skills.
For those that aren’t big fans of the frigid outdoors this winter, this thought-provoking exhibit may be more your style. Visit the website for more information, events, and details about Donna F. St. John’s exhibit on heroes.
